Privacy Policy

This Policy describes what Charmiq collects, why, where it is processed, and how long it lives. It mirrors the App Store Connect privacy nutrition label and the bundled PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest, and is pending final counsel sign-off.

1Summary

Charmiq is a voice coaching app for iOS. We record short voice clips you choose to capture, score them on acoustic and conversational signals, and let you replay or delete them at any time. We do not sell your data, we do not run third-party advertising, and we do not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do nothing that would require it.

Charmiq is a coaching tool — not speech therapy or medical advice.

This Policy is the long-form companion to the privacy nutrition label on our App Store listing and the PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest bundled with the app. Where the three documents touch the same fact, they are written to say the same thing.

2Who we are

Charmiq is operated by the Charmiq team. The iOS app ships under the bundle identifier app.charmiq.ios and is rated 17+ to accommodate the Flirty Date practice persona. Questions about this Policy or privacy requests in general should go to support@charmiq.app.

3What we collect

When you use Charmiq's AI features, the following data leaves your device: (a) your voice audio is streamed to ElevenLabs during live conversation practice; (b) your transcript and on-device speaking metrics are sent to Google's Gemini model to generate summaries and drill feedback; (c) your speech is transcribed by Apple's on-device or cloud speech recognition. The app shows a one-time consent screen describing this before any AI feature is used.

The categories below are the same ones declared on our App Store privacy nutrition label. Everything is linked to your account; nothing is used for tracking across other apps or websites.

Audio data
Voice recordings you capture during a scan, drill, or live conversation. Used to compute your Charisma Score, generate AI feedback, and power Coach Mode and live conversation features.
Identifiers
Your Charmiq user ID and the RevenueCat App User ID we use to recognize your subscription on the device you signed in from. Used for app functionality and product analytics.
Purchase history
Records of the subscription products you have purchased, restored, or cancelled. Used to deliver Coach Pro entitlements.
Usage data
Aggregated product analytics — which screens you opened, which drills you completed, which features failed. Used to fix bugs and improve the product.
Name and email
Captured if you choose Sign in with Apple and share your name and email. If you choose Apple's relay email, we only ever see the relay address.
Crash and diagnostics
Crash logs and other diagnostic data needed to keep the app stable.

We do not collect contacts, photos, health data, location, or advertising identifiers. We do not request the App Tracking Transparency prompt.

4How we use it

  • Compute your Charisma Score and per-skill subscores from the audio you record.
  • Generate post-conversation summaries and drill feedback by sending your transcript and speaking metrics to Google's Gemini model.
  • Power real-time persona conversations by streaming your voice audio to ElevenLabs Conversational AI.
  • Transcribe your speech using Apple's on-device or cloud speech recognition.
  • Drive the live conversation experience with the persona you chose.
  • Deliver and restore your Coach Pro subscription.
  • Diagnose crashes and improve the product through aggregated analytics.

We do not use your recordings or transcripts to train third-party foundation models. Recordings are sent to model providers only to produce your scores and replies in real time. Google and ElevenLabs process this data as our subprocessors under their respective enterprise/data processing terms; they do not use it to train their models.

5Vendors and processors

Charmiq runs on a small set of named processors. Each handles one job and only the data needed for that job.

Google (Gemini)
Cloud LLM for post-conversation summaries and prompt-response analysis. Receives the conversation transcript and on-device speaking metrics; does not receive raw audio.
ElevenLabs
Real-time voice AI for live conversation practice. Receives your voice audio in real time over an authenticated WebSocket and returns synthesized agent audio.
Apple Speech
On-device transcription when available; otherwise Apple's speech recognition service handles transcription. Apple's privacy terms apply.
Supabase
Authentication, primary database, audio storage, and edge compute — hosted in AWS US-East-1.
RevenueCat
Subscription receipt validation and entitlement management.
Superwall
Paywall A/B testing and paywall analytics, in Observer Mode.
PostHog
First-party product analytics, US-hosted. Receives only usage events — never audio or transcripts.

Apple processes your in-app purchases under its own terms. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with brokers or advertisers.

6Retention and deletion

How long a recording lives depends on your plan and your choices.

Free accounts
Recordings are retained for 30 days, then automatically removed.
Coach Pro accounts
Recordings are retained for 365 days, then automatically removed.
Delete all my recordings
Available in Settings → Privacy. Hard-deletes the audio file and the database row immediately. A small analytics tombstone is kept for 90 days so we can debug deletion bugs and meet audit obligations.
Delete account
Available in Settings → Privacy. Removes your Charmiq account, your recordings, and your scores. Aggregate, anonymized analytics that no longer reference your account may persist.

7Tracking and analytics

Charmiq does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use the iOS Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and we do not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Product analytics in PostHog are keyed to an anonymous distinct ID that we rotate when you link or unlink your Apple ID. You can disable analytics at any time in Settings → Privacy.

8Your rights

Subject to your local law, you may exercise any of the rights below. Most of them can be done in-app without contacting us.

  • Access — see the recordings and scores tied to your account inside the app.
  • Delete recordings — Settings → Privacy → Delete all my recordings.
  • Delete your account — Settings → Privacy → Delete account.
  • Opt out of analytics — Settings → Privacy → Product analytics toggle.
  • Request a copy of your data, correct it, or restrict its processing — email support@charmiq.app.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively. We do not sell personal information.

9Security

Audio is encrypted in transit and at rest. Every per-user database table is row-level-security gated so a user can only ever read or write rows that match their own user ID. Audio in Storage lives under a path prefixed with your user ID, with the same access rules. Subscription status is writable only by our billing webhook running with service-role credentials — never by a client.

Sign in with Apple is the default authentication path. If you use Apple's relay email, your real address is never disclosed to us.

10Minors

Charmiq is rated 17+ on the App Store. The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact support@charmiq.app and we will delete it.

11Changes to this Policy

If we change this Policy materially — for example by adding a new processor, a new data category, or a new retention window — we will update the date at the top of the page and call out the change in the app on the next launch. For non-material edits, the updated date alone is the notice.
